Week of The Young Child
04/12/24
We’ve truly enjoyed celebrating children and families with you this week, and we hope you have too! Take a look below at all the resources we’ve shared throughout the week 👀
On Music Monday, we celebrated both the total solar eclipse and Music Monday. Our staff was given the afternoon off for Employee Appreciation Day and had a wonderful time watching the show in the sky!
We also shared a free eclipse guide, a Music Monday songwriting challenge, and a great Diverse Song List that you can play for your children any time of the year!
On Tasty Tuesday, Hilary and Melinda, who head up our Child and Adult Care Food Program and Triple P programs at Action for Children joined forces to do a cooking demo and share tips for picky eaters, family mealtime, and more!

For Work Together Wednesday, we had a great time observing a SPARK lesson featuring Little Red Fort by Brenda Maier, and our amazing SPARK Coordinator, Abby Alexander did a read-along of the book for families and programs to enjoy! We also watched Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State Address and were really excited to hear how the state of Ohio is prioritizing children and families with new grants, initiatives, and opportunities.

Action for Children celebrated Artsy Thursday by releasing three free guides with age-appropriate painting activities for young children, including sensory bag painting (ages 0-2), sponge painting (ages 3-5), and tape resist painting (school age).
For Family Friday, we had a blast getting out in the great outdoors with Xion and Zaria and their moms, Racheal and Kweli! If you’re looking for a Friday pick-me-up video full of cuteness and sunshine, this one doesn’t disappoint!

But guess what? The fun isn’t over! We’re excited to be hosting our first Family Spring Fling tomorrow to close out Week of the Young Child! We look forward to seeing our community and celebrating together!
