Parenting Classes, Workshops and Group Sessions
Action for Children offers classes and group discussion sessions for parents and guardians of children of all ages, from pregnancy to adult. Classes and sessions are designed to provide: parenting skills enrichment; support and help to single mothers or fathers; tips for parents going through a divorce; support and resources for parents working with the legal or social services systems.
The Art of Positive Parenting (TAPP)
This is a six-week, twelve-hour course providing in-depth discussion about The Art of Positive Parenting skills and philosophies. These sessions are ideal for parents who want to learn the theories behind the skills, time to practice them, talk with other parents, and receive coaching by the instructor. This three week, six hour course is ideal for parents who want a fast-paced course that focuses more on using The Art of Positive Parenting skills, and less on the theories behind them. This class is designed for parents who are seeking parenting tips and enhanced skills. Learn more.
Putting the Children First – Online Class
This 2-hour seminar is designed for parents who have filed for divorce, dissolution or legal separation. Understanding that each situation is unique and the impact on divorce can vary, this seminar focuses on steps parents can take to help their child(ren) feel secure during this time. Topics include: How to know what is best for your child; communicating with the other parent; reducing stress; dealing with rules at the other parent’s house; and resources to help with a variety of challenges. Parents Who Parent Separately
This six week, twelve hour class is designed for parents who are in a co-parenting role due to divorce, dissolution or legal separation. If your child is having difficulty adjusting to spending time in two homes, or if you are concerned that your child is “caught in the middle” of the parents’ challenges, this class will help. You may also wish to take this class if a judge, magistrate or Guardian ad Litem has referred you. Topics include: maintaining boundaries and rules in your home, listening to your child, communicating with the other parent about the children, and how to make decisions that are best for the children. This twelve hour course designed for Fathers is offered in multiple counties, in multiple formats. The Father Factor program is dedicated to strengthening and honoring the role of today’s father with the hope and promise for you and your child’s future. Father Factor recognizes that fathers have unique qualities, strengths, and talents that make them critical to their child’s healthy growth and development. Today, most dads need to explore and engage their ‘Father Factor.’ We have created the Father Factor with the goal of providing men a classroom curriculum that improves the attitudes and skills needed for responsible parenthood. This twelve hour course is designed for mothers dedicated to strengthening and honoring the special role they play in the lives of their children.
