LEAD TEACHER

Lead Teachers support our mission, values, goals, policies as leaders of the classroom teaching team. Lead Teachers work to promote a mutually respectful classroom environment in which children, families, and staff work together toward success. Lead Teachers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their classroom providing high-quality, responsive caregiving, intentional curriculum, and standards compliance; guiding and supporting assistant teachers and classroom volunteers and working collaboratively with families to help each child learn to grow. • Minimum of BA/BS in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• Experience in a teaching role for two years
• Career Pathway Level (CPL 3) or higher

Essential Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times to assure safe and appropriate play and monitor all play areas to assure safety and cleanliness of equipment; assure all children are visible at all times.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care Licensing Rules and Columbus Early Learning Centers policies and procedures.
• Assure child-staff ratio is maintained at all times.
• Maintain accurate child attendance and meal count records daily.
• Plan and maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, and organized learning environment.
• Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur by providing First Aid or CPR, assess the need for emergency services, and prevent the spread of illness.
• Protect all children from physical punishment or verbal abuse by anyone in any program activity, and immediately report any such incident to the Center Director.
• Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbances, learning disorders, or other special needs and report those signs immediately to the Center Director for follow-up.
• Observe children for any suspected or disclosed signs of child abuse or child neglect and report them immediately to the Center Director and/or the proper child welfare agency.
• Safeguard all classroom supplies and equipment, and account for any misused, damaged, or missing supplies or equipment.
• Responsible for cleaning and general maintenance of classroom.

We are focused on developing the whole child including social and emotional development through peaceful conflict resolution. Who we are:
Grace Family Daycare & Preschool is a ministry of the Delaware Grace Church. Founded in 1999, Grace Family Daycare & Preschool is recognized by the community as a leader in providing spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical development through a balanced curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to school age. The center is licensed as a large program with ODJFS.
Summary:
With direction and support from the Lead Pastor and Daycare board, the Director will oversee the operations, direction, programs and employees of the center while providing a safe and healthy Christian learning environment for staff and children, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state and federal requirements and supporting the Statement of Faith of Delaware Grace Church.
The desired candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, highly responsible and dedicated in growing the reputation and curriculum of the center and providing vision for the future.
Position Status:
90 day trial period, followed by full-time, subject to ongoing performance evaluation. A minimum of 40 hours per week; hours may vary. Center hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. Additional before/after hours and weekend responsibilities, as required. Position is considered exempt under FLSA and not subject to overtime.
Qualifications:
The qualified experienced candidate will preferably have an advanced degree from an accredited college, university or technical college in child development, early childhood education or related field approved by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Additional Requirements:
Proven leadership ability and experience in directing programs, developing and mentoring teachers and staff, budget and financial accountability, organizing and prioritizing tasks and cultivating and maintaining rapport with church and daycare staff, parents, children and the community. Salary based on education and experience.
