Position Description:

We have positions with our Marysville, Delaware, Utica, and Newark Head Start/Early Head Start Centers. (Please specify location when applying.) This position is responsible to assist the classroom teacher in providing a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for the children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). To assist the classroom teacher in promoting the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of Head Start children. To provide frequent contact with the families of the Head Start children in the classroom and at home. To assist the classroom teacher with keeping accurate written notes to help develop individualized goals for the children, provide on-going assessment and successful transition into Kindergarten.

The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Applicants with High School diploma or equivalent, must obtain a CDA within two (2) years from date of hire. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree or higher, Pre-K certification or licensure. Applicant must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, proof of auto insurance, and a clean driving record for work related driving. Must be able to sign a non-conviction statement, complete a background check and a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Salary range $14.97 – $21.75 per hour depending upon degree and license. Qualifications:

• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or in the process of obtaining the degree. A degree in a related field will be considered.
• Demonstrate ability to supervise children and ensure a safe learning environment for the children in Head Start setting.
• Excellent communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and have access to reliable insured transportation.
• Ability to make frequent significant decisions to assure developmental progress of children.
• Ability to respond to an emergency or crisis situation if one should arise.
• Ability to visually scan the area where the children are, including the classroom, outdoors play area and field trips.
• Ability to be aware and monitor events going on at all times, regardless if what you are doing at the time.
• Constant kneeling, stooping, bending and sitting on child size chairs and classroom floor.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Rate of Pay:

$14.97 – $21.75/ Hour (based upon degree/license)
