The Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and the Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association have implemented an online professional development system for early childhood and afterschool professionals across the state of Ohio. All Action for Children courses will be posted on the OPDN.
In order to register for Action for Children’s professional development classes, you MUST register through the Ohio Professional Development Registry. You will need to open a personal profile on the Ohio Professional Development Registry to register (to obtain a profile you must have an email address). Â
For step-by-step Ohio Professional Development Registry registration instructions and the new registration process for Action for Children’s professional development classes, click here. If your program is participating in Step Up to Quality, you most likely already have a registry profile. You can check with your center director if you do not know your login information.Â
About the Registry
The Ohio Professional Development Registry Registry provides a centralized, coordinated system for early childhood and afterschool professionals to track and be recognized for their experience, education, credentials and training.Â
What This Means for You
Real-time class availability. You will be able to see exactly how many spaces are available. Once you register (includes online registration request AND mailed payment), your space will be reserved.
Personalized directions to Action for Children workshop locations. The new registration system integrates Google Maps to provide directions no matter where you are coming from.
Verification of attendance in the Ohio Professional Development Registry and online access to your transcript and upcoming schedule. Once you register for a course using the Ohio Professional Development Registry, upon completion of the course, AfC will verify your attendance on the back end of the Ohio Professional Development Registry. This will automatically update your Ohio Professional Development Registry profile! (If you are currently enrolled in SUTQ, this process will take the place of mailing in-service forms to OCCRRA for verification!). Your Ohio Professional Development Registry profile will serve as a centralized location for you to be able to view your record of past courses (only verified courses will show up) AND for your upcoming course schedule.
Our Action for Children staff are here to assist you in any way possible with this change. Please call us at 614-224-0222 if you have any questions!
