Action for Children is committed to connecting young children to the outdoors.

"More and more child care centers are replacing their traditiional outdoor play areas with more natural open-ended play spaces.  This supports children's innate curiosities and love for learning through all their senses."  - Betsy Loeb, Nurturing Nature in the Wonder Years Program Manager and a member of The No Child Left Inside Central Ohio Collaborative Steering Committee.

Action for Children's Nurturing Nature in the Wonder Years 10 hour SUTQ-approved curriculum for directors, teachers, and home providers is offered on an ongoing basis. The program is part of a growing movement across the nation (and the world) to "Leave No Child INSIDE."  This work supports children's all round healthy development . . . intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, physically . . . and combats a growing sedentary culture and an obesity epidemic that threatens children's life expectancy.

Additional professional development opportunities on this topic are also available. For more information regarding our Children & Nature programs, including the Nurturing Nature in the Wonder Years program, contact Betsy Loeb at 614-224-0222 ext. 126 or email at betsyloeb@actionforchildren.org.
