About Gospel Meets Symphony

Gospel Meets Symphony leads by example through the medium of music to create an environment for shared learning and appreciation of diversity.

Gospel Meets Symphony (GMS) was founded eight years ago, when Adam Troy, a Trustee of The House of Troy Foundation, was inspired by a similar concert he attended in Akron.  He shared his vision for such an event in Columbus with Anne Pizzuti, a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees.  Both were serving on the Action for Children Board at the time and a partnership was formed between the three organizations to develop the event.

The inaugural concert was launched in 2000, with Huntington Bank as presenting sponsor.  The event benefits The House of Troy Foundation and Action for Children, contributing to their year-round programs and services in central Ohio

GMS features an all volunteer Chorus; its 150+ members representing over 55 area churches, businesses and choral ensembles; performing in concert with a professional orchestra.  From 2000 thru 2006, the performance featured the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.  The orchestra for the 2007 concert will be the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra.

Gospel Meets Symphony goes beyond traditional barriers to explore the rich tapestry of our community’s diversity.  Choir practices for the 2007 concert will again be hosted at Ft. Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in downtown Columbus, the home of this year's orchestra is Delaware, and the concert will be held in Grove City.

We hope you will join us again this year as Gospel Meets Symphony explores new places and celebrates diversity in central Ohio
