Website Resources:

Child Care Ohio, sponsored by the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association, is a comprehensive place to conduct a free search for child care and early learning programs in Ohio that are outside the seven-county central Ohio region served by Action for Children.

Child CareAware, sponsored by the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Associations, is a free resource to find child care and early learning programs in every state throughout the U.S.  In addition, the site offers a wealth of early childhood information for parents.

Ohio Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and School Readiness has information about area schools, Ohio’s academic content standards and the Ohio’s Early Learning Initiative (ELI).

Ohio Department of Job and Family Services
 has information about provider licensing, Ohio's Early Learning Initiative (ELI), financial assistance for families, and additional resources.

Health Start & Healthy Families has information about Ohio’s low and no cost health coverage program.  You can visit the website or call them at (800) 324-8680.

Ohio Help Me Grow is a program for Ohio’s expectant parents, newborns, infants, and toddlers that provides health and developmental services so that children start school healthy and ready to learn.

KidsHealth offers practical parenting information and news, as wells as special sections for kids and teens.

Battelle for Kids
has information for parents about supporting their children’s education.  Resources and links.

PBS Kids provides links to all current children's programming, as well as links for parents and educators.

Columbus Childrens Hospital offers education resources for parents. Click on Patients/Families/Visitors on their home page to learn about educational opportunities and newsletters.

Child Care Information Exchange offers a free subscription to an informative email newsletter called ExchangeEveryDay.  Information for parents and early childhood professionals.

Central Ohio Special Education Regional Resource Center assists families and educators in the development and delivery of specially designed instruction aligned with Ohio’s academic content standards. Their mission supports the vision of the Ohio Department of Education by providing products and services designed to assist those with closing the achievement gap for children and youth with disabilities.  A wealth of information for parents with children who have special needs.

Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities provides details on their website about eligibility, services and other information for families in Franklin County.

Columbus Speech & Hearing Center provides speech, hearing and deaf services, as well as opportunities to become more involved.

Columbus Hearing Impaired Program is part of Columbus Public Schools and provides services for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Easter Seals of Central Ohio and Southeast Ohio creates solutions that change the lives of children and adults with disabilities or other special needs, and their families.

Build Ohio is an alliance of groups and individuals working collaboratively on behalf of young children and their families so that policies, programs and services are responsive to the needs of Ohio families, careful in the use of public and private resources and successful in preparing our youngest citizens for a successful future.

Ohio Early Care and Education Campaign is a new campaign to make voluntary, high quality early care and education available to all Ohio children, ages birth to six.

KidsOhio.org
is an Ohio-led, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that is working to improve the lives and education of Ohio’s nearly three million children, especially disadvantaged youngsters.

Childrens Defense Fund Ohio provides an advocacy voice for Ohio’s children who cannot vote, lobby or speak for themselves, paying particular attention to the poor, minority and disabled.

National Child Care Information Center, a project of the Child Care Bureau, is a national clearinghouse and technical assistance center that links parents, policy-makers, providers, researchers, and the public to information about early care and education.

National Institute for Early Education Research supports early education initiatives by providing objective, nonpartisan information based on research.  The goal of NIEER is to produce and communicate the knowledge base required to ensure that every American child can receive a good education at ages three and four.

National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies provides national leadership to the membership network of child care resource and referral agencies located in states and local communities.  Information about child care and early learning issues at the national level can be found on this site, along with information and links of interest to parents.
