Funding Our Work
At Action for Children, we have a perspective of over thirty years working on behalf of central Ohio’s children – helping parents understand and demand quality care and early learning experiences for their children – providing professional development and recognition for members of the early childhood profession – educating community and business leaders to understand and support child care and early learning. 

Welfare reform, academic content standards for 3- and 4-year olds and government budget cuts have created a complex mix of challenges for those who serve the child care and early learning needs of children.  But the present situation also presents opportunity to truly improve early childhood outcomes for all children; not only creating a better future for today’s young children, but also improving school environments, supporting working parents and enhancing the desirability of central Ohio’s corporate climate.
Your donation makes a difference by helping Action for Children provide: 

  • Child care and early learning resources and information free of charge for families in need of services in central Ohio.
  • Professional development workshops, seminars and educational materials for child care center staff and family child care home providers.
  • Early learning educational resources for parents and early childhood professionals. 
  • Positive parenting classes designed to help today’s parents listen to children and learn to communicate with them effectively.
  • Workshops and technical assistance for schools and organizations that offer after school programs for school-age children.
  • Resources for community planners and decsision-makers.
  • Resources needed to advocate for early learning and child care finance reform, early literacy, quality early learning environments for all children, and worthy wages for the early childhood workforce.
